A NEW YORK BROWNSTONE
ON THE SMALLEST STREET IN CALGARY.
This custom home, nestled on a hill in Ramsay, was a true collaboration between builder and designer. With no homeowner until the house was sold and the design process was complete, we worked side-by-side with Ryan at Icon Developments to create a New York brownstone in the heart of Calgary.
We knew from the first design meeting that we didn’t want this to be a regular infill, blocky and boxy with plain white walls and builder-grade light fixtures. We wanted this interior to be spectacular and special, with moments of delight sprinkled throughout the home — starting with the custom foyer tile inlay, to the impactful jungle wallpaper in the powder room, to the kitchen with its rounded island detail and velvet banquette, to the custom curved drywall railings.
The kitchen is the star of the home, with heated polished concrete floors, windows that open onto an outdoor countertop, and a recessed bar complete with beer and wine taps. Tucked in beside the kitchen is a custom velvet banquette with channel tufting and a black chandelier handcrafted in New Orleans.
We aimed to make the design of this house purposeful and intriguing, elegant and classic, warm and inviting. It was a design injected with intent, with thought put towards every small detail.
