A MID-CENTURY UPDATE
TO SUIT A COZY FAMILY HOME.
G + N’s space was functional enough, but needed an update. And the first thing on the checklist: the massive corner cabinet (once perfect for a tube TV) needed to go!
We ripped out the existing millwork + replaced it with modern walnut cabinets + low-profile open shelves. The existing fire box stayed, but was reworked in a sleek new fireplace surround with textured white tile and a marble hearth. And the finishing touches: a new art TV (recessed into the face of the fireplace so it sits flush), green velvet swivel chairs, mid-century inspired tables, and a custom sectional fit for a cozy night in.
In the dining room we replaced the wallpaper and light fixture with more modern alternatives, and swapped out the old dining table for a custom made extendable table in a midtone stain. The traditional chairs we replaced with wire-brushed black oak chairs to add contrast + a graphic element to the space.
The basement bar was one of the areas that most needed an update! What used to be a Grecian-inspired honey oak bar with columns + a teal countertop became a sleek, sophisticated, and textural take on the wet bar.
